What is a dismantled car?
A dismantled car, or donor car, is a vehicle that an auto recycler takes apart for parts after a collision, a flood, a mechanical failure or simply high mileage. Its good OEM parts, from engines and transmissions to control modules, body panels, lights and interior trim, are removed and sold one by one. Grabsters lists 507 such cars from 35 makes, each from a US dismantler that sells on the site.
Why the donor car matters
When you know the car a part came from, you know its year, model, generation and engine, and often the mileage. That is the quickest way to check that a used part matches your car. A part from the same generation with the same engine and options is the safest choice, and a low-mileage donor means less wear on engines, transmissions and other moving parts.
The surest check is the part number. Compare the OEM number printed on your old part with the one in the listing, and send the seller your VIN if you are not sure.
How to use this page
Pick a make above to see its models and the cars being parted out, or browse all cars below. Each car page shows the car itself, its specs and the parts already listed from it. On cars added by the yards themselves you can also ask for a part that is not listed yet, while the car is still in the yard.
Looking for a part rather than a car? Search all used car parts by make, model, year or part number, or find a salvage yard near you.
Buying with confidence
