Finding a salvage yard near you

What is in this directory

This map lists 1,236 salvage yards, auto recyclers and junkyards in 48 states. The list comes from OpenStreetMap, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation's register of used auto parts recyclers, and yards that sell on Grabsters. Each yard page shows the address, the phone number when it is known, the location on the map and, where available, a street-level photo.

Self-service or full-service

Salvage yards work in two main ways. At a self-service yard, often called U-Pull-It or pick-and-pull, you bring your own tools, remove the part yourself and pay a posted price. At a full-service yard the staff pulls the part for you; such yards usually keep an inventory, check parts and can ship them. Many yards do both, so ask when you call.

Before you go

Yard inventory changes every day, so call first. Ask whether they have your model and year, whether the part is still on the car, the price and any core charge, which warranty they give and what payment they take. Have your VIN ready, and bring the old part or its part number to compare.

Or buy online

Yards on Grabsters list their parts with photos, so you can buy from a yard in another state and have the part shipped. Browse used car parts, or see the cars being dismantled right now with the parts pulled from each.

Is your yard on the map? Open its page and choose "Is this your yard?" to take it over, update its details and start selling online.
